Maybe she’s born with it…

Maybe it’s Maybelline, The Knot, and me… in New York City! A huge thank you to The Knot for hiring me and having me back in designing and planning events. What a great way to be welcomed back into the events world. You are going to love all of these dazzling details all the way to the penthouse view of the SoHo Grand Hotel. Be sure to check out the blog on the DIY details of this event.

The designs behind this event is all about the Maybelline Fit Me line. I love how this incredible line has such a large range of beautiful skin tones and was completely inspired by them. There were so many details that they deserved their very own blog post and how tos. For this New York event we had to bring the style and did so by creating multiple areas with photo ops and activities.

As soon as you walk into this incredible space, you are welcomed by an oversized array of balloons that I tried to honor as many skin tones as I could through balloons. By mixing and matching the double stuffed balloons, I was able to create this beauty going from light to dark shades.

The entire reason for the space was for Maybelline to do what they do best, makeup! The suite was transformed to include five make up stations. The directors chairs, full length mirrors and custom spandex table covers all came together to create the perfect set ups. The SoHo Grand Loft North was the exact spot we needed for all five set ups to have this abundance of natural light.

While amazing food and sparkling drinks were never ending on the terrace that over looks the city skyline were were making different kind of bubbles! Talk about an iconic bathroom, the space was begging for me to make into a photo op so we did! The shimmer panel backdrop, clear bubble balloons and that neon sign into a new kind of icon.

How do I create my first event?

My personal suggestion would be to get experience. You can do this by interning/ asking to assist different types of planners. Consider actual vendors to experience in the ins and outs of an event from all aspects.

How do you create an event layout?
Use the layout from the venue/hotel/location and double check to make sure the measurements are all to scale.

How do you plan a destination event?

  • Define Your Budget

  • Establish Local Vendors

  • Provide Comprehensive Information for Client and Attendees

  • Plan Exciting Experiences/ Photo Opps

  • Book the venue space for the day before and not just the day of
